Tiger Mail and iCal have a nifty new feature where events that come in the mail are automatically sent to iCal for entry on your calendar. However, if you get events from a mailing list, iCal will refuse to let you add the event because it is not addressed to one of your email addresses. So you add the mailing list as one of your email addresses. But then you get really confused when 'smart addresses' make it so mail to the mailing list appears to be to you.
The solution? Create another Address Book entry for the mailing list. It appears that smart addresses will prefer that entry over your own address card where it is just one of many. Phew. But really, it would be nice if iCal didn't try to be so picky and would just let you accept an event that was mailed to you, whether it is mailed to your actual email address or not.
