Scan to print via Image Capture and Desktop Printers Apps
Push button printing (i.e. 'scan then print') doesn't work with my Epson scanner and OS X's Image Capture. But I found something close.

First create a desktop printer using Printer Setup Utility (Printers: Create Desktop Printer with a printer selected in the Printer List window). Next, in Image Capture, click the Automatic Task pop-up and then select your new desktop printer as the 'action' to be taken after the scan. After scanning, the file is automatically printed. If you wanted, you could also set the scan to location to temporary items (i.e. /tmp) if you only wanted to print.

Do you use Epson's TWAIN driver with or without installing the Epson Scan application?

With the most recent drivers from Epson installed, the TWAIN plugin calls Epson Scan which has the nasty feature of leaving the fluorescent bulb on continously until unplugged (or at least for a very long time). It also installs Epson Scanner Monitor as a Login Item which interferes with Image Capture and other scanner software.

Generally I've been satisfied with VueScan for the price.
