Rate unrated iTunes songs via a simple sort Apps
Open iTunes, click on the "My Rating" header. Now the unrated songs are at the top of your library. Rate the first track you see and it will disappear from the top. Progress until tired. Have fun!

[robg adds: Yes, this is a basic tip, but it's a pretty effective way to rate a bunch of songs in a hurry. Note that the My Rating column is actually a slider of sorts; to completely remove a star rating, for example, click and drag to the left, past the first star in the list.]

I have a smart playlist for this purpose. It displays all songs which are unrated.

I do the following whenever I am in the mood to rate songs:

I have a smart playlist called "unrated" with all my unrated songs. Now I go to party shuffle and choose "unrated" as the source playlist and rate songs at my leisure. When I want to listen to rated songs, I just choose another playlist as the source.

The advantage of using party shuffle is that the song will continue to play even after you rate it. If you just play the song from "unrated", the song will disappear as soon as you rate it. Of course, this behaviour can be disabled by unchecking the "dynamically update" checkbox when forming the smart playlist, but I like my smart playlists up to date. So, party shuffle + unrated smart playlist works the best for me.

I have a SmartPlaylist, too, and then use that as the source for the party shuffle.
