Scrolling with Mighty Mouse in Photoshop

Trying out my new Mighty Mouse in Photoshop revealed some interesting features -- and even helped explain some old scroll wheel functions that seemed odd (i.e. why using a scroll wheel to go up/down was slow but holding SHIFT made scrolling right/left possible but very fast). Read on for a summary of functions, comparing an old scroll wheel mouse and the new scroll ball in Photoshop. These do not apply universally in OS X or other applications, where some use different keys or even have opposite effects, like zooming in Word. Try these combinations in the applications you use, and you may find some interesting results.

The scrolling functions of the Mighty Mouse in Photoshop seem pretty intuitive and very useful, and I enjoy using the scroll ball a lot, though the buttons do take some getting used to. Here's how the Mighty Mouse ('new') compares to the old scrolling mouse ('old') in each function:

Scroll up/down on mouse

Scroll right/left on mouse Scroll up/down + Shift key Scroll right/left + Shift key Scroll up/down + Control key Scroll right/left + Control key Scroll up/down + Option key Scroll right/left + Option key Scroll right/left, up/down + Command key [robg adds: I can't test these, as I haven't purchased a Mighty Mouse...]
