One way use a Keyspan remote with other audio sources

I often listen to streaming audio from radio stations using Real Audio or Windows Media Player with my Airport Express. Since my audio system does not have remote control of volume, I would like to use my Keyspan remote control to control the volume. Unfortunately, this only works through iTunes, since the Keyspan remote controls the volume by interfacing with iTunes.

Rogue Amoeba makes a product called Airfoil ($25) to intercept audio from any application and stream it to an Airport Express. This allows me to listen to audio from any application, but does not allow me to use my Keyspan remote.

My solution is to use Rogue Amoeba's Audio Hijack Pro ($32), which is designed to record audio from any application and save the output to a file -- MP3, for instance. It has an option to automatically add these files to the iTunes library. By setting Audio Hijack Pro's options to start a new recording every 10 minutes, and to automatically add those recordings to the iTunes library, I can listen to the files through iTunes using Airport Express and my Keyspan remote like any other audio file. Of course, I have to wait until the first file is added to iTunes (10 minutes in this case).
