A fix for Firefox and the Schubert-IT PDF plug-in

I had an issue with Firefox not using the Schubert-IT PDF Browser Plugin. Any time I tried to load a PDF, the QuickTime Plug-in stepped in -- no matter what MIME-Settings I chose for the QuickTime Plug-in. Since a quick Google search showed that other people are bitten by this issue, too, I thought I share my fix:

  1. Quit Firefox
  2. Remove the QuickTime Plugin from /Library/Internet Plug-ins (move it -- don't delete it)
  3. Start Firefox and load any PDF. They should now be handled by the Schubert PDF plug-in)
  4. Quit Firefox (not sure if this is necessary)
  5. Move the QuickTime Plugin back to the Internet Plug-ins folder.
[robg adds: I installed the 2.2 version of the Schubert plug-in, and it seemed to work just fine in Firefox -- it overrode my Adobe PDF Reader plug-in, and worked as expected ... perhaps this hint only applies if you're using the default QuickTime plug-in.]
