Avoide empty archives when using Stuffit Expander
Aug 01, '05 09:17:00AM • Contributed by: Anonymous
I was having troubles with Stuffit Expander -- when expanding a known non-empty archive, I would get empty archives when expanding. I have found that, in Stuffi's Preferences, a possible workaround. Open the Preferences, click on Destination, and in the Create Surrounding Folder section, click Always. After I changed this setting, expanding an archive no longer resulted in an empty folder.

Avoide empty archives when using Stuffit Expander
the "empty archives" really only appear empty (for me at least). At first i was frustrated, but then i accidently moved a file into the folder created by the archive, and all of a sudden i could see the contents of the archive. it seemed to "refresh' the folder. i believe that moving an item to the "empty folder" or changing the folder's location will "refresh it" and display the icons. it worked for me, but i'm not sure about other cases.

I had the StuffitExpander problems with empty folders, too. I found out, that they are not empty, but contain just invisible files.

You can also simply hit shift-cmd-n within the empty archive to create a new folder, and all of your items will appear. Then simply hit cmd-delete to move the newly created 'untitiled folder' to the trash. An inconvenience that takes about a second. |
