Use local network image downloads in the screen saver

You can install driftnet (either by manually building it, or by using DarwinPorts to do it for you), and then use the "Pictures Folder" screen saver in the System Preferences' Screen Saver panel to point to a designated directory. Then start driftnet with the -a -d options and make it point to the same directory. Now every time the screen saver kicks in, you'll have the images travelling on your local networks being displayed as backdrop.

It is also possible to do something similar with webcollage. You'll need to install netpbm first (using DarwinPorts) and use the -imagebase command line option of webcollage to point it to a directory where it should put the images it builds.

[robg adds: I haven't tested this, but it could be interesting on a larger network...]
