Convert iCal Events into To Do tasks and vice versa

This may have been obvious to some, but I was pleasantly surprised: You can drag an event in iCal from the main calendar to the To Do pane (if visible), or the reverse. This copies the event as a new to do (or the other way around), and also transfers alarm settings and notes, etc.

Not in iCal 1.5.5, OS 10.3.9.

I can also confirm that this feature is new in Tiger. (Which makes me happy, since I was one of the people who left feedback for Apple requesting something like this.)

I also left feedback requesting this feature! Thanks Apple for listening to us. ;)

You can also Option-drag to duplicate a new event or to do.

Another great addition (maybe already covered on osxhints - if not probably worth a separate hint): Drag an address book entry to iCal to create a new event "Appointment with..." within iCal - great feature! (Although not very hidden - both of them are mentioned on the iCal website)

As the reminder settings and the text of the To Do is copied as well this can be used as a simple "template method" - simply add a To Do with your default reminder settings and text and you drag and drop it to the calendar area to create new events with preset reminder and name.

Sweet; FranklinCovey has used this feature for quite a while and it's nice to see some better organization features in iCal (I especially lke the new print formats!) |
