Tiger only hintMaking a group in Address Book gives you the capability in Mail.app (when composing an email) to type the name of the group in the TO:, CC:, or BCC: fields, hit Enter, and it auto-populates all the addresses from the group into your email field.

Smart groups in Address Book give you the capability to make a group that you never have to change. For example, if you have a company like "Apple" and you make a smart group consisting of anyone with "apple.com" in their email address, then no matter how you update or remove your addresses in Address Book, the group "Apple" would always be current.

But never the twain shall meet -- Smart Groups don't auto-complete in Mail.app!

I was able to get around it in a simple but possibly not obvious way. First, make a smart group with your wanted criteria. Next make a regular group whose only member is the smart group. Presto! A smart group that you can use in Mail.app, and that will also auto-complete.
