Use Adobe Reader 7 with JavaScript disabled

For security reasons, I like to disable JavaScript support in Adobe Reader 7. This is set in Preferences -> JavaScript -> Enable Acrobat Javascript checkbox off.
If you try it, you will notice that the application pops up this dialog every time you want to quit:
You'll see this every time you quit the application -- even if you have no open documents at all. This bug occurs on other platforms as well, not just Mac OS X, and is due to Reader trying to update a file called glob.settings.js in your user data upon quitting, even when JavaScript is disabled.
Here's a workaround for Mac OS X Adobe Reader 7.0.0 and 7.0.1:
- In the Finder, navigate to your user's Library/Acrobat User Data/7.0 folder.
- Drag the folder "JavaScripts" to the trash.
- Duplicate any small file you see there and rename it "JavaScripts" -- it does not matter which file, we just want to replace a folder with a file. Make sure the filename you create has no extension -- check it with the Finder's Get Info if needed. Alternatively, open Terminal in this location and type touch JavaScripts to create an empty file.
That's it! This prevents Adobe Reader 7 from creating the glob.settings.js file, and you won't see any more warnings when you quit.
