Tiger only hintAfter updating to Tiger I soon realised that I could no longer "save" those embeded movie I so cherish to collect even after updating to Quicktime Pro. And apparently, I'm not alone.

I might have found a workaround. Although I can't tell for the non-Pro version, this works for me in QuickTime 7 Pro:

  1. Click the link to play your movie.
  2. When the movie appears and starts playing, "drag and drop" the movie on your Desktop. This should create a file called "Movie Clipping $" (this file is a link to the actual movie).
  3. Now double-click "Movie Clipping $," and QuickTime should reload or open the movie.
  4. Check to see if you can save your movie using File -> Save as. If not, go to the next step.
  5. Select the whole movie using the IN and OUT brackets (on the timeline, this is the two shapes below the reversed current frame triangle). Now copy your selection (Command-C).
  6. Create a new player with File -> New Player.
  7. Paste (Command-V) and your movie should appear.
  8. Save your new acquisition using File -> Save as, and set it to be a self-contained movie.
I wonder if this could be automated ... I hope this helps!
