When I downloaded the latest version of Quicksilver for Tiger, I was immediately annoyed by the Rocket icon that appears now for launching an application. After the hint on extracting graphics from applications using iPhoto, I decided to find that graphic and see if it could be changed or removed.
The easy fix is to go into the folder that contains Rocket.png, and either replace it with a PNG of your choosing or remove the PNG file which forces Quicksilver to use the default gear icon. The Rocket.png file is located in the Quicksilver.app bundle (Control-click on it and choose Show Package Contents), then choose Contents -> Plugins -> Core -> Support.qsplugin -> Contents -> Resources.
I also noticed that there are a number of plist files that make reference to the Rocket.png file. I decided against modifying those files, but it would appear that you can choose a different icon for different instances (ie. Launch, Open, etc.).
