Due to travel plans this week, macosxhints' updates between April 25th and 29th will be somewhat intermittent.

Tiger tips coming at 6:01pm Pacific time tonight!
Friday April 29th: 6 new hints
Tuesday April 26th: 7 new hints

I will have (at best) an occasional net connection for the whole week, so getting hints posted will be a bit of a random affair. I'll definitely be running some stuff, but I can't really commit that there will be a daily update, nor that said update will occur at any given time on any given day. The best bet is probably to check the RSS feed a few times a day with your favorite RSS reader to see when the new stuff pops up. So if it seems slow around here next week ... well, it's because it probably is!

There will be, however, at least a few Tiger hints that will be posted at 6:01pm Pacific time on Friday the 29th. I have a few in the queue that have been sumbitted by readers, and there are some things I've stumbled over myself, so I'll make sure those go up as soon as Tiger is officially shipping in my time zone.

Tiger only hintFinally, I've decided on a modified system for the future Tiger-only tips. I've already created a new category for System-related Tiger tips (the System104 category). That's great for the system stuff, but there are also going to be application tips, Unix tips, networking tips, etc., that will probably be Tiger-only. To handle those, I'll be using the small Tiger X logo you see at left. This will help graphically identify those tips that are only for Tiger yet not System related. When searching, the hints search engine will also be able to find these posts: just run a search for tigerx, as that's (part of) the name of that small image file. It's highly unlikely that word will appear in a 'normal' post, so the results will be all the Tiger-only tips. I'll try to put together a saved search link when I get back next week to make it really simple for everyone.

Having had the chance to use Tiger for a while now, I'm quite happy with it (though there are always things one will want that aren't there!). I plan on publishing an in-depth review sometime in the first couple weeks of May, schedule permitting ("fat chance in heck of that ever getting done," you all say...). It really is a worthy follow-up to 10.3.

Have a great week everyone!
