Use folder aliases for data burn in Toast Titanium Apps
I have many folders which I used to drag from long and disparate places on my hard drive to the Toast Titanium icon for burning -- after having created an untitled folder in Toast, of course. However, I have discovered that I can just first create an untitled folder in Toast, and then drag folder aliases instead.

Now I just keep aliases to all the pertinent folders for burning in one folder, do a Select All, and then drag all the aliases to the nice little lickable Toast icon in the Finder's toolbar for burning. My next step is to create an AppleScript which will activate Toast, create a new folder in Toast with the day's date as the title, and then click burn and automate anything else I may wish.

Why not just save the desired profile, with its commonly selected folders/paths, directly from Toast? Then all you have to do is open the saved Toast profile, and all your folders will be ready to got. You can even keystroke the file, AppleScript it, etc.

Its strange - how sometimes the obvious thing is the last thing you think of...

...and here was me thinking "cant wait for finder burnable folders in 10.4".... doh!!

Hello Frederico,

You asked,

"Why not just save the desired profile, with its commonly selected folders/paths, directly from Toast?"

The reason that I eschew Toast profiles is because my folders are often updated, and for some reason (--a bug?--) Toast does not auto-update profiles, on my box, at least.

Sincerely,

Variable as the Shade

VariblAsTheShade is right. Saving Toast project files is useless if you add a new file to a folder; it's never updated by Toast.

I've found it useful to save certain disk burning settings as a Toast project file, but then drag my folder of aliases onto the Toast window.

Odd, that has not been my experience. I'm, still on Toast 5.x, and profiles behave as expected for me, but I also use them with AS.

I've always found the icon for Toast to be likable but I've never been tempted to lick it;-)

Dragging aliases doesn't work?
Authored by: randydarden on Sep 01, '05 01:00:29PM

Am I the only one for whom this doesn't work? If I try to drag a folder alias into Toast, it simply puts an alias on the disk, size ~2 kilobytes. When I burn this disk, the alias still points to the original folder on my hard drive. What's described in this hint is the kind of functionality that I want, but I can't seem to make it work.

I'm using: Toast 6.0.1, Mac OS X 10.4.2, burning a Data CD, Mac & PC format.
