Print to HP LaserJet 1000 with Adobe Reader 7 Apps
If you're using the Zenographics CUPS v1.1 driver with an HP LaserJet 1000, you may find that you can't print from Adobe Reader 7. Adobe recommends using the latest print driver for your printer, but alas, the Zenographics driver is a hack.

My solution is to print your PDF with Preview. OS X offers many of the same output options as does Adobe in the Print dialog box.

[robg adds: I'm not sure we've ever printed this good piece of general advice here ... since OS X can print PDFs natively, if you ever have trouble printing one from Reader (or the full Acrobat), try printing from Preview -- and vice-versa. You never know, as shown above, it just might work.]

I try to always use Preview for printing PDFs. I don't care for it as a PDF viewer, but it's WAY faster than Acrobat for printing. What I need is an Applescript or something so that I can select a bunch of PDFs, control-click and then have Preview print the lot of them.

You could probably set up a desktop printer and just drag them to it. This may or may not be as fast as using Preview.

I use Preview for printing catalogs and booklets from PDF. It prints the pages _exactly_ as they are displayed on the screen.

Acrobat will add margins and fit the content to the page, so it is very hard to get things printed correctly out of Acrobat.

Another neat trick with Preview is the ability to drag a page from the drawer onto the desktop. It becomes a PDF with just that page in it.

Preview will work well for quite a few cases. However, if there are elements beyond the imaging level of the PDF, such as filled out form fields, it could well be that Preview will not print them. For these features, there will not be (m)any options beyond Acrobat (Reader).
