Pages allows you to set customized letter- and word-spacing, as well as apply colored shadows to text. If you want to use these features in one of your (Cocoa) applications that don't natively provide such features, you can create them in Pages and paste them into your destination document.
Unfortunately, text does not retain spacings or shadows when e-mailed. Images do, however, keep their colored shadows. It would preferable that the text manipulation features available in Pages be built into the Font palette so they could be used by any application.
