Add functionality to Exposť's 'hot corners' Desktop
Exposé hot corners are great, but I've found that I often activate them by accident in all but the bottom left corner. But one corner just isn't enough for the various Exposť options, so what to do? Here is a solution to allow you to put two Exposť functions in one corner.
  1. Activate the Exposé "blob," using one of the available utilities on MacUpdate ... or just use this hint.
  2. In System Preferneces: Exposé, set "All Windows" to the bottom left corner.
  3. Grab the top right edge of the blob you activated in step one, and drag it to the same bottom left corner. This way, the blob will be nearly invisible, but you will still be able to click on it when you throw your cursor all the way into the corner.
Now when you mouse to the bottom left corner, Exposé will show all windows ... and clicking in that same corner will show all application windows. Nice.

My setup:

Cmd + Right click: All windows
Opt + Right click: App windows

Anything else slows me down. :)

Key modifiers to mouse clicks are soooo cumbersome.

For me:
button 3, current app exposť
button 4, all apps exposť
button 5, desktop exposť

Anyone who cares about productivity should have at least a 4+wheel button mouse.

Did something similar on my setup using the Mighty Mouse scroll button. I liked it so much for the Dashboard I just added modifier keys for that button instead of the right-click:

Cmd-scroll button: All windows
Opt-scroll button: App windows
Shift-scroll button: Desktop

CornerClick can also be configured to provide similar functionality. You can configure it to perform one Exposť action when the corner is left-clicked and another when it is right-clicked. Modifier keys also work.

Quicksilver -- a wonderful program that uses a pop-up window and typing to make using OS X much faster -- can do this with "corner Triggers". Go to the Triggers section of Quicksilver's Preferences, and add an action (such as "Exposť desktop", or "Exposť all wndows", or even a completely non-Exposť-related action). Set the type to "Mouse", and then select desired corner, mouse button, number of clicks, and associated control keys. There's even a little blue burst that appears in a set corner when you put your cursor into it, to remind you that clicking has a function there.

I've simply remapped them to F1, F2, F3 since my left hand is usually always on the keyboard and my mouse there where I want to do something, so having to move the mouse away is annoying for me.

Mileage *does* vary, right? :-)

Cheers, Tom

Not sure if this is known already, but if you hold the Option key and click the blob, it does All Windows.
