One possible fix to an iPhoto rebuild crash Apps
iPhoto was crashing every time I ran the rebuild procedure. In the console log, I found this entry:
XXXdbg : replacing an array type field not supported yet.
I did a little investigation and followed a hunch. Suffice to say that you will get this error if you include the ( and ) characters in your photo titles; i.e. the names of the photos.

Unfortunately, iPhoto still crashes right at the end of the rebuild procedure, a Bad Address error as it attempts to write the final AlbumData.xml file. If anyone else has a tip regarding this, please speak up. With keywords on most of my 2500+ photos, I really want to avoid reconstructing the library from scratch.

One possible fix to an iPhoto rebuild crash

In either V4 or V5 if you remove the AlbumData.xml file and launch iPhoto it will be rebuilt and the keywords are not lost. Also, in iPhoto 5 the Albums folder is no longer necessary, just a carry over from V4 libraries that have been upgraded, and can be deleted.

So, if your iPhoto is crashing as it's trying to write the AlbumData.xml file, try removing it from the library folder and restarting iPhoto. (In my V4 iPhoto also would crash at the end of the rebuild but when I opened it next the library was rebuild and OK).
