Use AAC files in MP3 Alarm Clock

Sugar Cube Software wrote quite possibly the best, easiest to use, MP3 alarm clock software for Mac OS 9, and later Mac OS X. It could play MP3s, WAVs, MIDIs, MOVs, etc. Unfortunately, development of it ceased in 2002, and so AACs (ripped or protected) weren't on the list of supported formats that could be added to a playlist.

This wasn't a problem in Jaguar, since drag-and-drop directly to the playlist worked, but that was no longer the case with Panther. Any AACs already added to existing alarms played fine, but no more could be added. The solution, as it turns out, is to make aliases of .m4a/.m4p files, and change the extension to .mp3. The aliases can then be added normally, and the AAC files will play fine when the alarm goes off, or when the preview button is clicked.
