No doubt most people have already seen that Apple has released the 10.3.8 update. As a G3 owner who likes his PCI Quartz Extreme, I was wary of installing it -- I had already had to resort to (somewhat scary) hack in a previous hint to reenable QE on my Mac after updating to 10.3.7, and I was afraid even that might stop working.

Well, I installed it anyway, after seeing some hints on the web that 'PCI Extreme' has been fixed. I think I can confirm that it has -- my coregraphics binary is dated today, Feb 10, and all that was necessary to enable QE was the PCI Extreme [MacUpdate info page] installer (i.e. the original hack, as described in this hint).

So the 10.3.8 update appears to be safe for anyone who uses PCI Quartz Extreme, and Apple has been nice enough to restore that 'feature' for those who would, if 10.3.7 hadn't broken it; no need to rush out and get an AGP machine just yet.
