Use Salling Clicker at the login screen Apps
On occasion while using Salling Clicker to control iTunes, a lengthy pause in activity seems to cause my phone to crash. The only way to re-establish a connection is to turn all Bluetooth options off, physically disconnect the D-Link device and reconnect it all.

So I was looking for a solution which would quit SEC Helper, relaunch it, and reconnect. I tried AppleScript, but couldn't get the reconnect part to work without resorting to UI Scripting in System Preferences -- not ideal. I then stumbled upon the free Toggle SEC Helper, which will hopefully work the way I want it too. I've yet to experience a crash on which to test it. However, an interesting side effect of this little script is that if you run it from outside your session (via cron or delayed script launch) then you can use Salling Clicker from the login screen. I checked the Salling site and there is apparently a hidden defaults option which will allow you to maintain connection when switching users:
defaults write com.salling.SallingClickerHelper \
 KeepConnectionWhenSwitchingUsers YES
But as far as I can tell, it does not work when you just switch out to the login screen, and I could see no other option in the defaults. Toggle SEC Helper fills the gap nicely. Incidentally, I'm using a text-to-email service and a Mail rule to launch SEC Helper and connect to my phone, so I don't even have to sit in front of the computer to establish a connection.

Use Salling Clicker at the login screen

The KeepConnectionWhenSwitchingUsers option should work fine for switching out to the login screen (works for me when I just tested it). Feel free to discuss this tip in our forums (link from top of clicker.salling.com).

Best.
