Set white balance correction in iPhoto 5 with a click

By accident I stumbled over a handy feature of iPhoto 5: If you're in Edit mode on a picture, and command-click on it, iPhoto brings up the dashboard and automatically adjusts the tint and color temperature of the photo. So if you click on a spot that is supposed to be white, it will remove any tinge.

[robg adds: iPhoto5 definitely does something when you command-click on a photo. Experimenting with my images, though, I'm not positive this is a white balance correction. Clicking on a pure-white spot in one of my outdoor shots, the photo then acquires a blue tint. Also, the white/black balance sliders never move when using this trick; just the temperature/tint sliders. So while this is published as a hint, it's also a bit of a "what is it doing?" hint. If anyone can better explain what's going on, please add a comment! I would have asked the hint submitter, but it was anonymous without any contact information...]
