Finer table cell resizing in Pages Apps
I've been playing with Pages these last few days and found the following when resizing table cells. If you insert a table onto a page, by default you'll get a 3 x 4 table. Click on avertical border in the middle of the table, and note how the whole line is highlighted yellow. If you click and drag, the whole line will move.

However, if you press Option while dragging, only the line fragment under the mouse will move. This makes it easy to create unusual cell arrangements, with varying sizes from cell to cell. I've looked in the help (but to be honest, not in the User Guide) and not found this useful feature.

[robg adds: I checked the User Guide and didn't see any reference to this feature. As far as I can tell, this trick only works for vertical guides.]

to get the same feature for horizontal lines just need to enable a "Header column" - from the Table inspector

You don't need to have "header columns" active. You can resize without it, but the minimum size of a row is 0,89 cm (0,35 inch) and the minimum width of a column is 0,32 cm (0,126 inch).
At least that is what I experimentally get.

Option is the standard modifier key for 'smaller increments'. I believe it works in Photoshop, Quark and a host of other apps.
