Scale and move photos in books in iPhoto 5 Apps
I'm sure others will discover this soon enough by accident as I did, but I haven't seen in mentioned anywhere else yet...

If you double-click a photo on a book page, a slider will appear above the photo, allowing you to scale the photo. Once scaled up beyond its default size, you can click and drag to move the photo around in its frame. Finally, double-clicking a second time launches the edit mode.

[robg adds: As far as I can tell, the 'scale via double-click' trick isn't documented in either Help or the keyboard shortcuts pages in iPhoto 5, nor is it available from the menubar or the contextual menus (isn't that a no-no in Apple's HI design guidelines?). It's also a very useful feature, as you can control exactly which portion of your image will print, and you get a caution flag if you've zoomed in too far for the available resolution.]

I think Apple through out the HI design guidelines long ago.

I figured this out after I scaled a bunch of images for a book. Really great feature. Too bad Apple chose to keep it a secret!

Are other Aussies sick of these hints...

I'm really getting sick of these kinds of hints, not because they aren't useful (they are) but because photo printing and ordering still isn't available in Australia.

Can anyone recommend a good mail redirection company?

Since I didn't see specific mention (did I miss it?) I'll simply add that this is the same edit mode in which you can pan the image around within its crop area to position it exactly as you wish.

That is: double-click, and when you see the little scale slider, you can drag your image around within its 'frame' or use the cursor keys to nudge it.

Woops. Just caught the author's mention of pan. Sorry.
