The new iDVD 5 that ships with iLife '05 brings DVD+RW support. I heard from someone that it also allows you to burn to external DVD burners now, but with my internal Superdrive on my G5 2.0 set as the 'default' burner for iDVD, I couldn't test this directly.

I was, however, able to burn my iDVD project to a DVD+RW disc using Toast 6.0. First, I saved my project to a disc image in iDVD: File->Save As Disc Image. Next, in Toast, select the Disc Copy function and choose 'Image File' in the side drawer. Drag your image file into the window, and Toast will ask if you want to mount it. I said yes, but don't know if this is necessary. Then, burn the disc.

I used a FireWire Pioneer DVR-107D burner with firmware 1.18, and burned to a Fuji Film 4.7 GB DVD+RW 4x disc. It ran fine on my old Panasonic DVD player.
