While we are all waiting to find out if Keynote 2 really can replace PowerPoint, here is a collection of AppleScripts that meets a sore need: the ability to zoom with the + and - keys.
Interestingly, Office 2004 (and this only works with version 2004!) has a rather good, if ill-described, AppleScript dictionary. Place the attached scripts somewhere, and activate them using something like Butler with hot keys of your choice. If you, like me, want to use command-plus to zoom in, and command-minus to zoom out, make sure you restrict this hot key to PowerPoint and Word -- yes it works in Word too, but with another syntax.
All three scripts are stored in this one file, with comments to split them apart. Copy and paste each into a new script editor document, and then save each one in a safe spot.
[robg adds: I tested these with Butler and PowerPoint, and they work as described. Just save each as an AppleScript, then add a new Butler command to open a file, assign them shortcuts, and use the Options pop-up to restrict them to PowerPoint. Make sure the "open with" pop-up for each is set to "Execute AppleScript." Also, it should be pointed out that if you have a scroll wheel mouse, you can also use the wheel and the Control key to zoom Word documents. And with the release of PowerPoint 2004 (I believe), this same trick now works in PowerPoint as well. Quit a bit simpler than the AppleScript solution detailed here, but for those who haven't invested in a scrolling mouse, these scripts do work, and quite nicely.]
