Add iSync/Address Book support for P908/P900 phones Apps
Certain firmware for the Sony/Ericsson P900/P908 were not included in iSync and Address Book. This prevented the sync of these phones with Mac OS X. Also, Address Book features like making and receiving calls through AddressBook were disabled. Firmware affected is on the SE P900, CNP900, and CNP908.

I have created a set of files which, when installed, will:
  1. Enable Bluetooth Setup Program to find and install SE P900/P908 phones
  2. Enable iSync
  3. Enable make and receive calls through Address Book
Start by downloading a file called P900Rev1.zip from my .Mac iDisk [124KB direct download]. The folder contains all the files, along with necessary installation instructions. These files will be specially helpful for those who are not comfortable with Terminal usage.

[robg adds: I haven't tested this one, but I did download and look through the files -- they all seem to be plist and info files, along with the instructions in three formats. A previous hint also discussed synching the P900, while this hint discussed some Address Book / P900 compatibility issues.]

What about iCal syncing. My p900 has never been able to sync with my mac iCal data.

I'm considering getting a P910i, so I dont need any of these files yet, but I do get concerned about downloading stuff from a third party site (especially from anonymous tipsters). I have a lot more faith in MacOSXHints than some unknown stranger. Is it not possible to store these sorts of files on the MacOSXHints servers?

A secondary concern is the worry that in 6 months time when someone searches for info on how to sync his new second-hand P900 from eBay, he will find this article only to find that Mr Anonymous has stopped paying for .Mac (i.e. the crucial files will no longer be available).

Address Book support for P800 phone
Authored by: Bharat on Dec 20, '04 06:05:45AM

Hi,
SMS through Bluetooth feature is disabled by SE in P800/P900.
The same can be activated only through Firmware upgrade by SE (not any as of now) in future.
Regards

I've seen mixed information about the P910a with iSync'ing with iCal. Anyone know the status, and if this patch helps?

Add iSync/Address Book support for P910 phones

I have a p910i and have never had any trouble synching with iSync/iCal/AddressBook. Actually, once I paired the device in the Bluetooth setup, it just worked. No hacks or anything needed. iSync saw the phone, let me add it and I sync it regularly. It only will sync via Bluetooth as far as I know. I found a useful utility called BluPhoneEite(?) that adds some nice AddressBook/CallCenter features to my laptop when my phone is within BlueTooth range.

Now if I could just find a way to use my Mac to run the SE Updater service, I would be very happy, as my Win PC running XP Service Pack 2 refuses to run the update.

I have just bought a P910i and discovered that isync doesn't detect the phone via USB. So i'm going to buy a bluetooth dongle, but which one are you using? I've heard that the D-Link bluetooth dongle is the one apple sell & recommend. Also, is there anything else I need to set up before it runs smoothly with ical and address book?

Add iSync/Address Book support for P910 phones

I am using the dLink module and it works great. The system (10.3) detected it fine and the Bluetooth setup wizard did the rest. Didn't have to do anything to iSync except add a new device which it found via bluetooth. The only oddity is that it did not add an icon for the phone in the iSync Toobar. The name is there so its clickable, but no icon. I have seen ways to manually add an icon, but not worth the trouble. I figured the phone was just too new and a future update to isync would fix that.

Add iSync/Address Book support for P908/P900 phones

For those P900 users, I found that simply updating the P900's firmware to the latest version supplied be SE enabled me to sync with the vanilla iSync on OS X.3.6. AFAICT, this includes calendar and address book.

The firmware versions I'm using are listed on my journal:

Hope this helps.

Call me confused, too -- I've been syncing my P900 for over a year without any phone upgrades, so I'm not sure what problems this is supposed to fix.

Since the recent Bluetooth Firmware release for the Mac, though, I've been unable to connect as a Bluetooth modem -- still trying to figure that one out.

I had problems with iSync and Bluetooth using my p910. After updating all the firmware it only would sync my contacts from Address Book not iCal items.

To sync my ToDos and iCal items, i turned off Contact syncronization in iSync preferences and it re-synced my with my iCal items selected alone.

Seems to be working when I do them seperately.

Add iSync/Address Book support for P908/P900 phones

I'm running 10.3.7 and just got a P910i. I could not use Address Book to dial out, but iSync worked just fine. After comparing the files in the zip file to what I had, I found that the only change I needed to make was to add my phones model number under P800 in ABDeviceCommandSets.plist under Address Book.app. Used to be

<array>
<string>P800</string>
</array>
I changed it to

<array>
<string>P800</string>
<string>P900</string>
<string>P908</string>
<string>P910</string>
</array>
and it just worked!

Don't implement this hack... I did and it's totally garbled my ISync. In particular, the inofmration given under step2 are wrong (as it does not correctly reflect the file system).

Adding iSync/Address Book support for K700i phones
Authored by: ziska on Apr 06, '05 11:36:00AM

Has anyone help for syncing Address Book with a Sony Ericcson K700i phone? Apple's website states that this phone is compatable, but I can't get it to work. Phone calls to both Apple and Sony Ericcson technical support did not help. I am running O"S 10.3.8.
