DHCP for Static IPs via old Base Stations

This is how to be resourceful when looking for a way to route static IPs. It all happened by accident. Also I have a small network of 40 or less users. This has not been tested on large networks.

DISCLAIMER: This does not prevent outside users from checking your LAN. If you use this hint, it is left to your own discression to follow through with security measures.

Recently I had upgraded our wireless network to Extreme Base Stations. I was kind of sad to actually shelve the old Graphite when it had been such a tried and true solution for years now. And then it suddenly dawned on me.

Hmmm, maybe I could just remove the wirless card inside the Base Station and set it up as a DHCP server over the Ethernet. And to my delight, it has always routed static IPs. Now I am able to deliver DHCP over the network and users can obtain static IPs. Use at your own risk, and remember security is not exactly taking the front seat on this configuration.
