Save space in the dock with Office 2004 Desktop
This is no big deal, but you can use the Project Gallery as a standalone application. Instead of having Word, Entourage, Excel, and PowerPoint in your dock, you can just have the Project Gallery itself.

You'll find it in the Microsoft Office 2004 folder, then in the Office folder. It's called Project Gallery Launcher, and it even has the nice Office "O" as its icon. This can save dock space and let you have access to all the Office programs and use that nice O in your dock. This only works with Office 2004.

Yes, this does save you space, but for me, I like to have the Entourage icon provide me visual feedback if there's something in my inbox. Unfortunately, the Office Project Manager doesn't have multiple icon instances (perhaps someone could create a nice hack to remedy this?)

Try this -

Make a new folder within office. I called mine, MS OFFICE, then make a pretty icon(I just copied and pasted that "O" icon) then put short cuts to word, pp, excel, entourage into that folder. Then put that folder into the dock. Now all you have to do is "right-click" or "control click" or "hold the mouse button down" and you will get a nice space saving dock icon. I also used this for the MacroMedia Suite as well.

Wasn't this posted before? It might have been posted somewhere else but I remember it (which is weird since I don't use Office!)

I have something similar with Office X (not 2004). I just dragged the "/Applications/Microsoft Office X" folder onto the right side of the dock (next to the trash can, the only place you can put folders on the dock) and when I click and hold it brings up a menu with the contents of that folder. Then I select the Office application that I need. That office folder also has the fancy O.

I think this behavior is supported in Panther, but in previous versions of OS X it was a third-part add-on that caused the menu to pop up when you click and hold a folder.
