Recover from a stuck Motion animation task Apps
The following hint was emailed to me by Quentin Cotillard, and I believe this is our first Motion hint. I'm still waiting on my copy of Motion, so I can't confirm this one. Quentin writes:

"I was working in Motion, where I had created a layer with animation of a few shapes. I then wanted to apply that shape animation to a high resolution picture I had placed in another layer. So I dragged the shapes animation layer onto the mask layer of the picture. What a bad idea that was! It was such a resources consuming task that, even if I was on a G5 with 2GB of RAM, the only thing I could do was literally moving the mouse. Nothing else worked, no Apple Alt Esc, no ssh etc.

While trying everything to gain back the control of the computer, I had tried a few short cuts, including Command-S. The weird thing was that even though nothing else had worked, the saving of the document did. Bummer -- now every time I would launch that document in Motion, it would crash and I could not get my work back. So then I tried to open my Motion document in BBedit. I was extremely happy to discover that the document was in fact an XML file. So I went and replaced the picture on which I had applied the filter with a tiny 10x10 pixel jpeg, saved the document, and reopened in Motion. There I was finally able to delete the faulty layer and restart from were I got stuck.

So if for some reason the last modification you did in Motion crashed your file, there is still a chance to recover it by editing the content in a text editor."
