Have you ever wanted to load your Mac OS X Desktop image onto your cell phone? Now my PowerBook and my cell phone are the same! OK, so I had a lot of time on my hands today...

I have been using the 3GUPLOAD website for over a year now to load pictures onto my Sprint PCS phone. I don't have a camera phone, and wanted to add my family pictures to the phonebook. It dawned on me today that the Mac OS X desktop pictures are just jpegs and that they will work on most phones. Just upload a desktop picture to the website. They can be found in the top-level Library -> Desktop Pictures folder. I bet that you could use the Send file feature on a Bluetooth phone as well.

If you need to resize your picture to fit the screen size, use iPhoto (3GUPLOAD does this automatically):

  1. Launch iPhoto
  2. Select file -> import, and choose the desktop photo you'd like to use
  3. Choose the imported photo, and select File -> Export
  4. Set the format to JPEG.
  5. Set the size image to match your phone's picture dimensions, and click Export
  6. Upload it to the website
I am a Mac geek!
