Stop the iCal alarm clock's animated motion Apps
I use iCal's onscreen alarm a fair bit at work to remind me of meetings and tasks and so on. As I am brain-dead when it comes to remembering things, I keep the alarm window up on the screen for a little while, until I can get to the task. But that little freakin' "visual buzz" the clock does was driving me crazy.

It turns out you can control-click on the clock itself and select Stop, as seen at left. Ah, Peace on Earth!

[robg adds: Another great example of a hidden feature that doesn't seem to be documented in the provided help file ... great to know it's there, but why won't Apple tell us about these things?]

Slightly Off Topic on iCal...

But, I'd love to have other options for the iCal alarm snooze. A repeat in 30 minutes and/or before event would be a God-send. In this area, Entourage's solution is much more robust.

Does anyone know a hack for this? I can't find anything on MOSXH yet.

Apple does provide info about this and other features. Take a look in iCal help, Tips and Tricks.

Why would you want to stop the iCal alarm clock's animated motion? If it's not making a sound, it shouldn't be so annoying.

How to change Snooze in iCal
Authored by: grafikat on Sep 14, '04 11:43:40PM

Sorry for being dense, but I've checked the help, tips and tricks, etc and have yet to find a way to change the snooze defaults. 1 min, 5 min 1 hour are the only options

We need a 15min or 30 min option~!

If anyone has a hack to add this feature... HELLP!

Maybe they don't document some of the cool things you can do because it would rob us of our fun. Isn't it a blast to discover hidden features? If everything were documented well, we wouldn't need macosxhints.com now, would we?
