Privoxy, Entourage 2004, and Exchange interaction

I use Privoxy, and had been using Entourage X as my calendaring and email solution. I recently bought Office 2004 and decided to upgrade to Entourage 2004. After launching Entourage 2004 and trying to connect to the Exchange server, Entourage began telling me that my password / login credentials were bad, even though I hadn't changed them. It turns out that Entourage 2004 now uses webdav to connect to the Exchange server (using http), and that Privoxy was blocking it. Entourage X used IMAP, so there was no interaction with Privoxy.

The solution to this problem is to edit your network configuration in System Preferences and disallow use of the proxy for the domain in which your Exchange server resides. For example, if your Exchange server is fooserver@foo.com, you will want to open System Preferences -> Network, select your network configuration, and click Configure. Then, select the Proxies tab, and in the text box for "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains," you would enter "foo.com" and then save your settings. This will ensure that your mail traffic doesn't get filtered by the Privoxy proxy server.

This behavior was very insidious to diagnose. Be sure to edit each one of your networking configurations. When I had originally configured Privoxy, I had only enabled it for my Airport connection. Therefore, Entourage 2004 worked on for my ethernet connection, but not my wireless -- and I thought my VPN connection was the issue.
