This morning, one of my clients had a problem sending one email message with three attachments. The email couldn't get out, and it randomly started to appear both in Out and Drafts mailboxes. Clicking on it showed that the contents (body) of the message had disappeared. Then I started creating emails with one attachment at a time, and I managed to find the one that was causing the problem. The attachment had file name of 65 characters in length. I've renamed it by deleting last three characters of its name, and the email went out.
I know this might be related to some specification in the RFCs or something else, but Mail should complain anyway and let the user rename the file which they are attaching.
[robg adds: I tested this with Mail in 10.3 and one attachment with an 85 character filename, and I had no problems at all -- Mail sent it, and the recipient received it. Anyone else have Mail problems with long filenames?]
