Replace the 'Other' user icon in the login window System
How to change that boring 'Other Users' icon in your login-window to something funnier. The trick is done with the following shell command:
% cp UsersPref.tiff.new /System/Library/CoreServices/\
SecurityAgentPlugins/loginwindow.bundle/Contents/Resources/UsersPref.tiff
This assumes you have a tiff-file of 48x48 pixels called UsersPref.tiff.new in the working directory, of course.

I've written an install- as well as an uninstall-script and included the necessary tiff-files. The package can be downloaded here if you want to. I would say it makes your login-window look "Spiffy."

[robg adds: I checked the scripts and image in the download file; they're all quite safe, and if you read a certain Mac magazine, you'll get the reference to Spiffy.]

Hello folks.

I wrote simple script, bit more user friendly than jjkeller's scripts. I'm to lazy to format code in here, but I hope you find it useful anyway:).

#!/bin/sh

# Dummy script for Mac OSX 'Other Users' login-window icon change

# This nice hint is taken from www.macosxhints.com, thx jjkeller :).

'Other' user icon?
Authored by: gw on Jul 26, '04 09:21:05PM

Ok, guess I missed a previous hint - what is the Other User icon? I have two options in panther - a username/password combo and a list of icons/password....

'Other' user icon...

is when you activate the Root user. I think it also will appear if there is an NFS mount somewhere on the network, allowing you to access the users on the NFS mount.
