To do this you will need the usbtb CUPS USB backend and the HPIJS driver, since this printer is PCL6 compatible. Here's how to get it working:
- Install the HPIJS drivers
- Install usbtb, and when it detects the KX-P7105, it won't find the driver, so simply select Choose Driver.
- Select the HP LaserJet 5si Foomatic/HPIJS driver and print the test page to see if everything is OK. Now we have a working printer but no duplex. We have to force it.
- Launch the printer configuration tool and select the KX-P7105 and then select Show Info.
- In the Show Info dialog, select the Printer model and change the driver to the Apple Laserwriter 8500 (or any PostScript model) Click Apply Changes.
- Go to the Installable Options dialog and click the Duplex setting button, then click Apply Changes.
- Return to the Printer Models dialog, and reselect the HP LaserJet 5si Foomatic/HPIJS and click Apply Changes.
- Test this with any two page document -- the duplex setting in the print dialog should be working.
Now you can use the full duplex capability and save trees at the same time.
