Use Preview's full screen mode for a simple prank

If you use this older hint backwards, you can play a pretty funny practical joke on people. When someone is away from their desk, take a screenshot (Command-Shift-3) and open it in Preview. In Preview's View menu, select Full Screen, then click the mouse somewhere on the image (to get rid of the warning message about full-screen mode). Presto, your co-worker now has a seemingly non-working machine...

The moral of this story is always hit escape if it looks like your computer is frozen, and you have co-workers or room mates who think they're funny.

[robg adds: Actually, the real moral of the story is to always lock your machine when you leave your desk! As noted above, hitting Escape will exit full-screen mode, or a simple command-tab will show that the Mac is actually fine. The dock, however, will be of no help, since it's (somehow) disabled in Preview's full screen mode. If the victim-to-be has multiple monitors, this trick is quite a bit more difficult to pull off ... exactly how is left as an exercise for the reader. :)]
