Create fully-justified text in OmniGraffle Apps
I recently started creating a poster for a conference. Rather than struggle with PowerPoint, I decided to give OmniGraffle a go, mainly because of its handling of PDF graphics.

All went well until I wanted to have some justified text. Left, right or centred are offered, but not fully justified. The solution is simply to edit your text in TextEdit in fully justified format, then copy and paste it into a text box in OmniGraffle. The text can even be changed in OmniGraffle and it will continue to be fully justfied.

Create fully-justified text in OmniGraffle

This works, but is not needed. If you create a text box in OG and then go to 'view' and 'show rulers' (Or just type 'command-R') you'll get the standard text-edit ruler at the top of the document, and that includes the line spacing tools and the alignment tools, just like in Text Edit. But they only show up when you are in text-editing mode (i.e. when you can type in the box) In fact, I suspect that's why your hint works - they're using standard text widgets that cocoa provides.

I'm using OmniGraffle 3.1, in which this is simply

Format/Text/Justify

(Maybe this isn't available in earlier versions?)

how to paste omnigraffle graphics into msoffice apps?
Authored by: davidduff on Jun 14, '04 02:03:50AM

anyone have any clever methods for pasting omnigraffle graphics into msoffice apps which preserves full precision of vector graphics?

i've tried exporting as pdf and then importing the pdf into word, but if i then want to generate a pdf from word, i find that the omnigraffle figures have been rasterized.

i gather that omnigraffle uses the modern os x graphics package (quartz?) while office only supports the old quickdraw-type, graphics (windows formats like wmf)

suggestions?

You made the right assumptions I guess. I create pdf's with vector graphics from Omnigraffle and then use GraphicConverter to change them to WMF. Then I insert those into Office 2004. This yields a better result than putting vectorized pdf's in office when exchanging documents with pc users and when creating pdf's.
