Reclaim disk space from iChat logs Apps
Just a quick note to say that iChat logs includes images the images you send, so they can get pretty big if you and a friend are comparing holiday photos via iChat like I do.

[robg adds: Logging in iChat is turned off by default; to enable it, open iChat Preferences, click on Messages, then check Auomatically save chat transcripts (and optionally pick a folder). Once enabled, things do tend to pile up relatively quickly, and images are indeed stored with everything else. I'm not sure about attachments, though.]

Sorry for the stupidity, but what directory are the logs kept in?

if you activate the logging... the logs are stored in your Documents folder, the log-folder is called... iChats

FYI, if you have your Documents folder someplace other than your home directory, iChat does not seem to save your chats anyplace, even though you may have that option selected. I had my documents folder in the root directory, and just had an alias to it in my home directory. iChat was not creating any record of my chats. I created a symbolic link to my documents folder, put that in my home directory, and voila, iChat started keeping track of my chat!

I wish Apple would let us decide where we want the chat logs to be kept!
