Recover from iTunes Music Store connection issues Apps
Sometimes while browsing through the iTunes Music Store, clicking some link will suddenly bring you to a page saying that the Music Store is "Temporarily Unavailable." It could be a network connection failure, or a DNS failure or something, and it shouldn't be much of a problem, except that the Back button is now disabled. This prevents you from going back and re-trying your last request. This also means that you have lost your entire effort of browsing/searching through iMixes and albums! You now have to go through the whole hunt-n-peck search again to find the album you had finally arrived at. That seems like a design mistake by Apple, as a normal web browser would let you go back to the cached previous page, and iTunes certainly caches the pages it downloads.

But I stumbled on a way to get back to the previous page in this situation. If you hit Command-B, the store will switch to browse mode. If you hit it again, you will be back to the page you were just on. Since I get the "Temporarily Unavailable" page fairly frequently for some reason, I was getting frustrated at it. Hopefully other people running into the same problem will be able to use this hint.

On a related note, why is there no "Wishlist" feature in iTMS? Is it an Amazon patent?

My mini-hint regarding this: use the shopping cart as a pseudo-wishlist. You can commit to buying individual items out of your cart now and are not forced to buy the whole cart at once.

Actually with 4.5 you can save song previews to your own Playlists (you could set one up called "wishlist" as an example). However, it doesn't seem to work with audiobooks, which is what I was looking for. Your shopping cart idea might work for that, so I'll give it a try.

As Scott Knaster pointed out to me, you can create your own Wish List. Create a Wish List playlist, then just drag songs you want from the iTunes Music Store into your local wish list.

The wish list is private to you, but with the new links from songs to the iTMS search, you can just click and buy them whenever you want.

Hmm. I should probably submit this a a hint...

Bookmark iTunes for later

I just drag and drop album covers or single tunes (from music store) to a folder on my desktop so I can go back later when my budget allows for more music.

Regarding the original hint, you can also click the (home) icon of the store. Once the store home page loads, the back button is available again for your previous pages.
