Dial the phone from the Address Book

I used to be a Windows user and I "switched." However, I miss some features of the Microsoft world. For instance, the Mac doesn't handle phone dialing with a nice preference pane like Windows does. I'm still looking for a complete solution, but recently, I found the DialWithModem OSAX script [84KB download], explained on this page (near the middle of the page). This program is both a standalone app, and an AppleScript that works from within the Apple Address Book. Not bad at all.

I only wish someone could make an improved version with preferences for handling calling cards, PBX, other dialing features etc. Any programmer out there willing to duplicate the dialing properties control panel from Windows?
