Monitor Safari download progress on the desktop

The download icons for Safari are dynamic (under 10.3, at least). While Safari is downloading a file to a location like the Desktop, Safari will create a download icon. The icon will have a progress bar that runs horizontally across the bottom of it. This progress bar updates itself as the download proceeds, allowing you to monitor the how far along the download associated with that icon is without having to refer to the Downloads window in the Safari browser.

[robg add: This hint was submitted by someone else a while back, and I had accidentally deleted it from the queue ... and then forgotten about it completely. So my apologies to the original submitter, whoever you are. The ability to watch download progress without having Safari in the foreground is definitely a nice touch.]
