In the past, I have had the mixed blessing of using SPSS v11.0.2 for performing statistical analyses on large chunks of Psychological data. Well, now I've upgraded to Panther, and was more than a little alarmed to find that this rather pricey bit of software could no longer generate most types of charts and tables without a large string of perplexing errors from something amusingly entitled 'HOOPS.' Almost every request would result in a stream of errors, usually along the lines of:
Warning (51/2) from HOOPS routine 'Compute_Text_Extent'. If a font is scaleable, 'vspace' should be the vspace-to-Aheight ratio.A little searching revealed that HOOPS is a set of graphics subroutines, and that these are built into SPSS rather than being OS related. Luckily, the cure is a simple one.
