Drag and drop pictures from Safari into Indesign CS Web Browsers
I'm sure many users have been migrating to Indesign CS from Quark Xpress. One feature that I've been particularly fond of is that you can drag and drop items from the finder (Word files, image files etc.) onto your InDesign page without using the usual File -> Place... command.

What's really cool is that you can drag and drop images from Safari straight into Indesign. This is really saves time when you're getting alot of "for placement only" images from stock photo sites. I've only tried this with Panther, Safari and Indesign CS.

I've been doing this with InDesign 2 for about a year now...

I wouldn't say "many"

SOME users may be migrating over to Indesign CS, but I wouldn't say many. I can't stand that program and stick with Quark... Quark 6 is nice - although you can't drag and drop from Safari into it...

Is this a joke?

Joking? Do we have a hint on the fact that you can drag and drop in Mac OS X, a feature well over a decade old? Mac OS 9 had good support, and with OS X it got even better.

You know, you can also drag images from Safari to emails, instead of the... eh... usual way of selecting "Attach file..." in the File menu. You can also write some text in TextEdit (or select text in Safari) and drag it to any other text application.

Ok... sorry for bashing. Drag and drop rules forevah, really.

ichat and photoshop can pull that trick too, I'm sure their are others. But nifty no matter how long you've known about it.

Drag and drop from Safari into Freehand
Authored by: starcaster on Mar 24, '04 10:11:50PM

This does not work for Freehand. It appears that Safari uses some kind of compression on the images and Freehand thinks it's a QuickTime image. You can drag and drop from IE into Freehand however.

Drag and drop from Safari
Authored by: Jss366 on Mar 30, '04 01:16:44PM

I used to use this all the time, copying from IE to Illustrator, but now AI cant parse the image straight from Safari - whether dragged or if I copy & paste. I have to go into Photoshop first then c&p again into AI :-(
Anyone know a fix? It would mean I could go to bed earlier.
