X11 and old function keys UNIX
Since the inception of X11, I've been trying to find a way to make the menu option stick to use old function keys. I posted a few times in various forums, but nothing seemed to work. I got back an email awhile ago from Apple development saying it can't stick. The man pages say to add XTerm*oldFunctionKeys: true to my XDefaults file, which also does't work.

I finally found it !! it was in this document: XFree manual 2.2mb PostScript file

The command should be XTerm*oldXtermFKeys: true. I set it that way, and now it works fine.

oldXtermFKeys (class OldXtermFKeys)
If ‘‘true'', xterm will use old-style control sequences for function keys F1 to F4, for compatibility
with X Consortium xterm. Otherwise, it uses the VT100-style codes for PF1 to PF4. The default
is ‘‘false.
