Create a freeware PDF Distiller for Classic under 10.3 Classic
This is probably fairly elementary for most experts here, but I've written up the detailed steps that can create an automated freeware PDF distiller for Classic apps, using Panther's built-in Folder Action scripts. Full details at this WordPerfect for the Mac support page.

The details that refer to WPMac are easily adapted to any Classic app, I think.

Also something that might be of interest:

Preview in 10.3 can convert postscript to pdf.

Absolutely - and the same scripts can be easily modified to display in Preview the PS file dropped into the watched folder.

BTW, one slight advantage of Classic is that you can still print (and create PDFs) from Type 3 fonts; Type 3 fonts don't seem to work at all in OS X. (The resulting PDFs use bitmaps to display text in Type 3 fonts, instead of selectable text, but it's better than nothing.)

Will this tip work in Jaguar [10.2.8 (6R73) – Darwin Kernel Version 6.8: Wed Sep 10 15:20:55 PDT 2003; root:xnu/xnu-344.49.obj~2/RELEASE_PPC]?

I am running a B&W G3, with many upgrades (hard and soft) on a Linksys wireless network. I would love a non-Adobe PDF solution for OS X or even X11/XDarwin/etc.

No, it won't work in Jaguar. But I think it's possible to write an AppleScript that will do the same thing in Jaguar by calling up features of either Ghostscript or MacGhostscript (which of course includes Ghostscript). I haven't tried it, but it should certainly be possible. There may even be a hint here about it, but I haven't looked very hard.
