Use the trashcan to remove docked items Desktop
I was messing around in the Dock's InfoPlist.strings file, I found that there was a strange key in there named "TrashRemoveFromDock." Intrigued, I put one of my Dock items over the Trashcan icon in the dock. Surely enough, the trash pop-up text read "Remove from dock," so you can remove Dock items in this manner. Not sure if this is useful to anyone, but it is possible.

Use the trashcan to remove docked items

As you can just drag items off the dock, I expect this is an example of good interface feedback design from Apple. The open question in the mind of a user dragging from the dock to the trash might be: "Am I trashing the icon or the app?" The feedback "Remove from dock" maintains the UI principle of least surprise.

Andy.

This doesn't seem to work on 10.4.

In the beginning, there was open source. And it was good. Then Microsoft came.
