A quick fix for an iPhoto drag and drop problem

I read of users losing drag and drop functionality in iPhoto 2.0 with Panther. I was one of them. The penny dropped yesterday when Address Book was failing to launch -- it's all about Font Book.

iPhoto uses the Helvetica font to display the number of photos being dragged. So if you have disabled Helvetica in the Font Book, (Panther just doesn't protect its vital fonts), iPhoto can't display the number, so the whole operation just falls on its face ... no drag. Similarly, if Address Book won't open, its for the same reason -- Helvetica is the display font.

Eeasy fix: Put Helvetica back into the System Fonts!

[robg adds: There are two prior hints (1, 2) about Font Book and application issues, but neither mentions iPhoto drag and drop issues. Suffice it to say that if you're using Font Book, you may want to be very very careful about which fonts you disable.]
