Corrupt iTunes Library file can cause burn failures

When trying to burn an iTunes audio CD on my G4 PowerBook using 10.2.8, I received the error message "The device drained its buffer without burn underun protection." At that point, it canceled the burn and ejected the CD. However, I could login to another user and burn fine using the same machine.

I called Apple's tech support and we trashed the iTunes preferences, but still the same thing happened. After an hour on the phone, we discovered that the problem was with the file ~/Music -> iTunes -> iTunes Music Library.xml. Trashing this file and restarting iTunes took care of the problem.
